Fresh air and spectacular scenery in the Aveyron and Aveyron Gorges
The Aveyron is a unique part of France where three rivers, the Lot, the Aveyron and the Tarn, come together to form a beautiful and varied landscape combining woodland scattered with strange granite boulders, the craggy contours of the Montagne Noire and the Lacaune Hills, the limestone plateaux of the Grands Causses and the rolling Aubrac pastureland. As well as providing a superb setting for walking and exploring, the many gorges, river bluffs, waterfalls, sandy beaches and lakes are great for swimming and canoeing. And for those of you who prefer something a little more daring, there are also plenty of opportunities for climbing, hang- and paragliding and canyoning. Other sites worth a visit include the stunning Viaduc de Millau with its wonderful views and the caves of the Roquefort cheesemakers.
