All mountain lovers are enchanted by the Pyrenees: wide, open valleys, slate-roofed villages, majestic cols and high altitude lakes stretching from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean, sometimes with more than a hint of their southern neighbour, Spain. Much of the Pyrenees are protected in a vast natural park and so have remained unspoiled and open to all for walking, fishing in the mountain rivers and streams, climbing, hang gliding, paragliding and white water sports. And wherever you go, you are never far from a major tourist site such as Lourdes, Gavarnie or the Pic du Midi.
